  3. Eesha scored 42/50 in English and 70/80 in Science.
    In which subject did she perform better? (Use percentages.)
  4. A cooker has MRP ₹1800 and a discount of 35%.
    Find the selling price.
    If the cost price is ₹900, find the profit percentage.
  5. Petrol price was ₹60 in 2015 and ₹100 in 2025.

    Find:

Basic – Answers

    • 3/5 = 60% Hint: Multiply by 100.
    • 7/14 = 50% Hint: Simplify to 1/2.
    • 9/20 = 45% Hint: 9 × 5 = 45.
    • 24% = 24/100 = 6/25 Hint: Divide by 4.
    • 75% = 75/100 = 3/4 Hint: Divide by 25.
    • 12% = 12/100 = 3/25 Hint: Divide by 4.
    • 25% of 160 = 40 Hint: 25% = 1/4.
    • 10% of 250 = 25 Hint: Divide by 10.
    • 5% of 80 = 4 Hint: 10% is 8, half is 4.
    • 0.43 = 43% Hint: ×100.
    • 1/2 = 0.5 Hint: 1 ÷ 2.
    • 50% = 50/100 = 1/2 Hint: Simplify.
  5. 60%

    • Hint: 15/25 = 3/5 = 60%.
  6. 3/11 is larger

    • Hint: 3/11 ≈ 0.2727 = 27.27% which is slightly more than 27%.

Standard – Answers

  1. 18.75%

    • Hint: 15/80 = 3/16 = 0.1875.
  2. Biscuit B is more sugary

    • Hint: 9/34 ≈ 26.47%, 13/45 ≈ 28.89%.
  3. Science

    • Hint: 42/50 = 84%, 70/80 = 87.5%.
  4. Selling price = ₹1170, Profit% = 30%

    • Hint: 35% off means pay 65%: 0.65 × 1800 = 1170.
    • Hint: Profit = 1170 − 900 = 270, Profit% = 270/900 × 100 = 30%.
  5. 66.67% (approx.)

    • Hint: Increase = 40, base = 60, so 40/60 × 100.
  6. 75

    • Hint: New = Old × 1.2, so Old = 90/1.2.

Advance – Answers

  1. Total distance = 230 km, Remaining = 138 km

    • Hint: 40% is 92, so 100% is 92 × 100/40.
  2. ₹7500

    • Hint: 150% of 5000 = 1.5 × 5000.
  3. 43.33% (approx.)

    • Hint: Profit = 130, Profit% = 130/300 × 100.
  4. 14.29% (approx.)

    • Hint: Cost = 350, SP = 300, loss = 50, loss% = 50/350 × 100.
  5. ₹5,17,647.06 (approx.)

    • Hint: Paid = 85% of original, so original = 4,40,000/0.85.
  6. Without compounding = ₹7800, With compounding = ₹7986

    • Hint: Simple: 6000(1 + 0.10 × 3).
    • Hint: Compound: 6000 × 1.1³.

HOTS – Answers

    • ₹180: ₹50 discount is better Hint: 20% of 180 = 36.
    • ₹225: ₹50 discount is better Hint: 20% of 225 = 45.

    • Hint: Shop A: 200 → 30% off = 140, then 20% off = 112.
    • Hint: Shop B: 50% off = 100.
  3. Loss of 5.5%

    • Hint: Take CP = 100, SP = 135, after 30% discount = 0.7 × 135 = 94.5.
    • Hint: Loss = 100 − 94.5 = 5.5, so 5.5% loss.
  4. About 1.64 crore

    • Hint: 1.5 × 1.03³ ≈ 1.5 × 1.0927 ≈ 1.64.

    • Hint: Value = 95% of 21,000 = 0.95 × 21,000.
