Telangana IT Minister KTR hosts Ivanka Trump & leading ladies from IT background at a panel during Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017, Hyderabad.
The prestigious Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) was held in Hyderabad, Telangana, from 28th to 30th of November 2017. First organized in 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey, this global event has grown from strength to strength. The most recently concluded summit prior to Hyderabad took place in Silicon Valley. In light of the previous venues, it only made sense that the city chosen for India’s inaugural and maiden GES was Hyderabad. Under the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) government, Hyderabad has evolved into the hub of all things tech and houses one of the biggest startup incubators in the country in the form of T-Hub.
The 8th edition of GES Summit was hosted by NITI Aayog in collaboration with the Government of the United States of America. Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Ms. Ivanka Trump, an adviser to the POTUS, were delegates for the GES 2017. PM Narendra Modi discussed the entrepreneurial future of the country with conducive climate for innovation and invention, coupled with lifting unnecessary regulations which restrain economic growth.
Above is full KTR video of the event with Ivanka Trump.
The GES summit brought together the country’s top talent from entrepreneurs to investors, business gurus and other eminent people from various sectors. The industry experts came together to foster the spirit of innovation and impart technical know-how in terms of perfecting the business pitch, raising funds etc.
The focus was on women empowerment and the pivotal role women play in business. Keeping in line with the overarching theme of ‘Women First, Prosperity For All’, the several key areas addressed were Energy & Infrastructure, Healthcare & Life Sciences, Financial Technology & Digital Economy, and Media & Entertainment sectors. The IT Minister of Telangana, K Taraka Rama Rao, hosted a panel discussion with dignitaries, Chanda Kochhar former MD & Chief Executive Officer, ICICI, Karen Quintos Dell’s Chief Customer Officer (CCO), Cherie Blair CBE QC, British barrister, lecturer, and Ivanka Trump, businesswoman, fashion designer, and adviser to the POTUS. KTR was the moderator of the panel discussion, and the participating dignitaries spoke about women empowerment and the role IT plays in the same.
Chanda Kochhar spoke about the IT sector and the opportunities it provides to the women to grow through the ranks and rise to the senior management positions. Her sentiments about being confident in one’s skill set were further echoed by Karen Quintos. The panel moderated by KTR discussed skill development required for women to progress and break the glass ceiling. Cherie Blair and Ivanka Trump drew inspiration from their own lives as successful businesswomen and shed light on the importance of continuing career growth despite family duties. KTR speech as the IT minister and his stance on supporting women empowerment was elaborately vehement.
To say the panel was a KTR Ivanka interview would be a gross misjudgment as all the four women delegates spoke at length, discussing the problems they faced and the adversities they overcame in becoming the successful role models they are today. The KTR speech and panel moderation video at GES 2017, readily available on the internet, shows the zeal, ministers and the governing body shows when it comes to the city’s entrepreneurial leadership and women empowerment.
GES 2017 was a massive success and a step towards the right direction in celebrating women entrepreneurs and through them the entire business ecosystem.
